Peter Spurgeon's photographic interests lie in people and their relationship to places in transition. He documented The Greenway which is a path running above the North London Outfall sewer through the London 2012 Olympics site. This was shortly before construction of the Olympic site demolition of local scrap businesses had begun. Locals, walkers and cyclists traversed a curious mix of light industry, fly tipped waste ground and natural areas. Other features included Second World War tank traps and pill boxes next to newly constructed apartments. Images from this series were selected for the 2007 London Independent Photography (LIP) annual exhibition and published in the Summer 2008 edition of the LIP magazine.

His current photographic project documents the people and village of Sipson. This village will be demolished if the proposed construction of a third runway and sixth terminal at Heathrow Airport goes ahead. He is drawn to this issue on several levels: the personal stories of those who live next to the airport, the prospect of increased pollution and congestion in an already crowded region and the global warming challenge. Ordinary people have been battling the government and the British Airports Authority to keep their homes for several years. More recently, radical protest groups have joined forces with the Heathrow villagers to fight against climate change. Medium format film images portray the long-standing residents of the village, their homes and the surrounding area.
